The department of economics is going to establish by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University in 2018, it will contribute to knowledge enhancement in economics and positively contribute in the economic development. Studies in Economics are in particular and various university activities in general.
At present department offers one program to cater the need of undergraduate students, where Bachelor of Science 4 years (8 Semester) program is offered at undergraduate level. The department of Economics has thoroughly updated curriculum of this programs as per the guideline of HEC and international standards. In addition to course work in the major areas, the curriculum includes core courses in all functional areas of economics, and supporting course work in mathematics, communications, statistics, and information systems.
At present department have 1 faculty members, have to his credit education and training from reputed universities of Pakistan as well as from abroad.
The department of Economics, aspires to become a leading internationally recognized teaching and research department in Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University to create and disseminate knowledge which contributes in making Pakistan and the world a better place.
The Economics Program helps students think critically about the economic issues they confront in their daily lives, and develop a commitment to be actively engaged with policy issues in local, national, and global communities.
1) Maintain emphasis on quality teaching in economic theory and quantitative methods of economic analysis & research.
2) Strengthen education-employment linkages for the graduates of the department of Economics through networking with prospective employers in the public & private sector, non-government organizations and international organizations.
3) Enhance dissemination of the quality research produced at the department through various channels of communication and forums of knowledge exchange.
The degrees in Economics are professional degrees that prepare students for careers in the public and private sector as economic analysts in businesses, consultancy firms, financial institutions, and applied research firms. They may also find jobs in international organizations (World Bank, IMF, and International Labour Organization etc.), government (All Ministries) and non-profit organizations (non government organizations, universities and other teaching jobs).
